Kathy was truly a wonderful, one of a kind lady. My sympathy goes to your family as you deal with this loss. I know Kathy is watching over you from above. She had an impact on many lives. I had the good fortune to have Kathy as one of my daughter's administrator and then I worked for her at CMS. She was truly what you think of when you think of an educator! She will really be missed.

Dear Hartsock Family,
Please accept my deepest sympathy for the loss you've experienced. I remember when Kathy started her career with FCPS as a fellow special education teacher and we remained colleagues for many years. Kathy was always approachable and her leadership created a warm, caring climate in every school she served. I pray for the days ahead as you adjust to life without her and hope that she is in the loving arms of God.

Her kindness and empathy toward students, parents, and staff were exemplary. She embodied the meaning of "good." I'm grateful for all I learned from her and appreciative of having been fortunate enough to have been one of her colleagues.

I first met Kathy when she served as the principal of my childrens´ school. She was duly authoritative and professional, but when in her presence, my wife and I always felt honored by Kathy´s overwhelming warmth and grace. Her smile was more than comforting - it was as if she knew that the blessings of life were grand, and that she hoped that you would agree. Later, when working with Kathy, I found her to be simply joyful and fully committed to her profession and students. My experience with Kathy leaves wonderful memories, and it inspires me to emulate her wonderful qualities.
