Khalid Ali Obituary
Khalid Salim Alex Ali Passed away on May 26, 2005. Khalid was born in Jeidet Marjayoun, Lebanon. The son of Salim and Damia Ali, Khalid immigrated to the United States in May of 1956 with his wife, Afife, and two children, Walid and Mona. Khalid was the owner and operator of Scherazade and subsequently, Alexanders Restaurant and Nightclub, responsible for the beginnings of Middle Eastern cuisine in the Lehigh Valley. During subsequent years Alexanders became the premier dance club in Allentown bringing live entertainment, show bands and disc jockeys to the people of the Lehigh Valley before live entertainment was in vogue. Khalid, who was affectionately known as Alex by his loyal clientele, operated Alexanders Restaurant and Nightclub for more than 25 years incorporating fellowship and goodwill reflecting his ardent philosophy of personal contact with customers. Khalid Alex decided to retire in 2003 after the most successful run of any restrauntuer and nightclub owner in Lehigh Valley history. Survivors: Khalid is survived by his wife, Afife Ali; sons, Walid Ali, Joseph Ali; daughters, Mona Ali Swales, Dena Ali Sherer; grandchildren, William Ali, Matthew Ali, Angela Stella; mother-in-law, Samira Azar; sister, Ameeni Ali. He was predeceased by a son, Salim Khalid Ali. Contributions: In lieu of flowers, the Heart Association.
