Leo McDonough Obituary

Leo A. McDonough, 89, of Whitehall, died Sunday, June 13, 2021, at home with family by his side. He was born September 16, 1931 in Philadelphia. He was the son of Leo and Elizabeth Friel McDonough. He is survived by his wife of 68 years, Frances Hudson McDonough, as well as daughters Karen Beale, Linda M. San Gabriel of Kensington Maryland, son David, and grandaughter Alana Beale. He was predeceased by two sisters.

Leo was a Korean war veteran serving in the U.S. Army. He was of the Catholic faith. He graduated from Temple University, Class of 1958, earning a B.S. in Industrial Management. Leo worked as a Purchasing Manager for Air Products and Chemicals in Trexlertown, as well as for The Dillingham Corporation in Honolulu, Hawaii, eventually retiring in Whitehall.

Leo was an avid reader of history. He loved skiing and was an active member of The Ptarmigan Ski Club for several years. Leo was a proud family man, organizing fun vacations for his wife and kids every summer.

A private service shall be held at the discretion of the family.

Leo was a man of faith and optimism.
He was a genuine and caring person who loved to make others laugh. He cherished his family and friends. We thoroughly enjoyed the times we were given together.
