Leonard Chowansky, 90, of The Villages, FL, formerly of Slatington, passed away peacefully on Saturday, August 12, 2023. He was the husband of Louise (Horn) Chowansky, whom he married August 1, 1953. Born in Ringtown on July 11, 1933, he was the son of the late Michael and Millie Chowansky. Leonard served his country honorably and proudly as a member of the US Army during the Korean War from 1953-1955. He worked as a mechanic for the former Stroh's brewery in Fogelsville for many years. Leonard was a life member of the NRA.

In addition to his wife, he will be lovingly remembered by a daughter: Susan Mann of Slatington; son: Gary Chowansky of The Villages, FL; grandchildren: Jason, Jared, Allix; 2 great-grandchildren.

A funeral service will be held at 10:30AM on Friday, August 18, 2023, at Harding Funeral Home, 25-27 N. Second Street, Slatington. Family and friends may pay their respects from 9:30 to 10:30AM. Interment with military honors will follow the service at Neffs Union Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made to the Alzheimer's Association c/o the funeral home.

To the Chowansky Family,

I am sorry for your loss with the passing of Leonard.

I have memories from long ago, that is decades ago. These include good memories of your family at get-togethers at the McDemus´ cabin in Ringtown. I saw that Leonard and Louise raised two wonderful children. Sue and I would visit while Jason and Jared and my son played together when they were youngsters. Gary was an outstanding student of mine in the engineering program at Lehigh Carbon Community College before going to Penn State. On another note: Leonard was so thoughtful in showing Bob McDemus and me his active solar system in your house when it was a new technology. He went into great detail about its various facets and related to us the pros and cons of the system. Leonard was a very kind person.
