Lewis M. Kuhns
Lewis M. Kuhns, 89, of South Whitehall Township, died Wednesday, February 6, 2013 at Cedarbrook, Allentown. He was the husband of the late Halina (Kaminski) Kuhns. Born in Cetronia, November 24, 1923, Lewis was the son of the late Mervin and Edna (Mangold) Kuhns. He faithfully and honorably served his country in the U.S. Army serving in Normandy during World War II and was a Purple Heart recipient. Lewis was employed as a truck driver at the former Roy J. Kern Trucking, Schnecksville for 20 years before retiring. Prior to that, he worked for the former Schlitzer Trucking, (Bulk Milk Hauler) in Orefield. Lewis was a member of the United Church of Christ congregation of Cedar Union Church, (Cetronia), Allentown. He was a member of the Poultrymans Association. Survivors: Children, Doris H. Woodring and her husband, Perry, of Whitehall, Linda L. Milander and her husband, Randy, of Allentown, James L. Kuhns of Whitehall; siblings, Viola Frey of Allentown, Florence Hartzell of Emmaus, Arthur Kuhns of Bethlehem, Doris Strauss of Topton; seven grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; predeceased by siblings, Raymond, Norman, and Paul Kuhns, Eleanor Ruppert, MaryLou Shoemaker. Services: Funeral services will be held 10:30 a.m., Monday, February 11, 2013 in the Heintzelman Funeral Home, Inc., 4906 Route 309, Schnecksville with the Rev. Lee Schleicher officiating. Family and friends may pay their respects from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m., Monday in the funeral home. Interment with military honors will follow the service at Cedar Union Church Cemetery, Allentown. Online expressions of sympathy may be recorded at www.heintzelmancares.com. Contributions: In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Cedar UCC Memorial Fund c/o the funeral home, P.O. Box # 196, Schnecksville, PA 18078-0196.
