Lisa Stenger Obituary
Lisa M. Stenger, 32, of Effort, died Sunday, March 22, 2009 in Overlook Hospital, Summit, N.J.. She was the wife of Barry Stenger. They would have observed their 10th wedding anniversary on April 24. Born in Easton, she was a daughter of Susan (Smith) Mendock of Effort and the late F. James Mendock Jr. She had been a supervisor of Starbucks inside of Great Wolf Lodge in Scotrun for two years. Survivors: Husband; mother; sons, Edward Vladimir Smith and William Drew Stenger, both of Effort; brother, Ty Mendock of Effort; sister, Maria Kitchen of Blairstown, N.J.; maternal grandparents, Ralph and Mary Smith of Columbia, N.J.; paternal grandmother, Joyce Mendock of Phillipsburg; grandmother-in-law, Betty Williams of Jonas. Services: 11 a.m. Friday, March 27 in the Kresge Funeral Home, Route 209, Brodheadsville with Bobby Gunther Walsh officiating. Burial will be at McMichaels Cemetery. A visitation will be held on Friday from 9 a.m. until time of service. Contributions: In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Overlook Hospital Oncology Unit, 99 Beauvoir Ave., Summit, N.J. 07901.

My son wrestles for Parkland High School and is currently at a tournament at Council Rock South High School. The school has partnered with a chrons disease organization and is selling t-shirts to help support the fight. Just thought you might like to know. Today is Lisa's birthday, and shes not here to celebrate it. i miss her so much, she was always there when i needed someone to talk to or a shoulder to cry on, losing her was definitely like losing a sister .. i just hope she knows how much everyone misses her. I love you Lisa!

I'm simply a listener of ZZO, and have been for many years. I can't even begin to imagine the pain you're dealing with right now, but as tough as it is to believe it will get better. I won't lie, it will never be "all better", but it will be better. Just keep all the memories of your wife in your mind and in your heart...if you do that she truly will live forever, because no one can ever take that away.

Barry, I am so sad to hear of your loss. I knew Lisa in school and she was always kind and beautifully spirited and as I've heard from Erin over the years, Lisa never changed. I wish I could say with honesty that time will heal your pain but, while it sounds nice, I personally don't think that's possible when you love someone so whole-heartedly as you do. Time will dull the pain though, I promise that. My hope for you is that you find the strength from the love you share with Lisa to simply recognize beauty in this world again and to remain the man and the dad you were when she was by your side.
