Louis Mongilutz Obituary
Louis Mongilutz, Jr., 93, of Allentown, passed away Wednesday, July 29, 2009, in HCR Manorcare, Salisbury Township. Born March 13, 1916 in Allentown to the late Louis Sr. and Antoinette (Argento) Mongilutz. Louis was predeceased by his wife, Jane E. (Mann) Mongilutz in 1995. He was a foreman at the Bethlehem Steel for 40 years. Survivors: Son, Richard J. and wife, Kelly Banach of Allentown; daughter, Jilda K. Shafer of Massachusetts; daughter-in-law, Jane Muto and husband, Francis of Allentown; grandchildren, Jody Mongilutz and wife Alyssa, with whom he resided, Corey Sommers and husband Eric of Northampton, Brett Waldron, Jake Mongilutz; three great-grandsons. Louis was preceded in death by all of his siblings. Services: 1:30 p.m. Saturday, August 1, 2009 in the Trinity Memorial Lutheran Church, 535 W. Emmaus Avenue, Allentown. No calling hours. Interment to follow in Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Cemetery, Whitehall. The K.V. Knopp Funeral Home, Inc. is in charge of the arrangements.

Dear Jilda,
I am saddened to hear of the loss of your Father. His memory will live in you heart forever. You probably don't rememeber but I lost my Dad a week before we graduated from Dieruff '66.
I know how much you heart aches right now but time does heal... but you will not ever forget him. Relish those memories and pass them on to your family and have them share with you. It somehow makes you feel good and his memory will go on forever in the hearts of those he left behind.

To Jilda, I Have not seen or heard from you in over 45 years but I never forgot you. I new you when you lived on Federal St. We hung out with Larry Saeger, Linda, Ronnie, Randy. My name is Darlene Davies (Wieand). I just had said to my husband yesterday that it was sad that I did not know where any of my fiends from my younger years were. And you were one of the people I mentioned. I am so sorry that you have lost your father. I lost my mother my dad lives with me. We sure did have some good times. Our condolences goes out to the whole family. We were saddened to hear about Lou. He always was a pleasure to be around, such great stories and quick wit. He loved his family so much, and he treated our son Jeff like family. Just remember all the wonderful memmories you have, and know he is at peace. Jody & Alyssa, you couldn't have done more for him. Jill, I'm so sorry to hear of your fathers passing. I always thought you had the most wonderful parents in the world. I used to run in to your Dad at Valley Farm and he would always remember me,even though it was sometimes years between our run ins. I lost my Dad 2 years ago, but I still have the happy memories, so, just hold on to those memories.

Pop was the best! I will miss so many things. He made me laugh so much! I loved him as if he were my own grandfather. I loved watching him and Lou together, they were quite a pair. I'll miss Pop yelling at me because I buy too many groceries, or making fun of the Golden Girls. I'll miss his stories, he told the best stories in a way I've never heard. I'm so glad I was able to live with him and have all these special moments every day. Rest in Peace Pop, but you will live on in all of our hearts Forever!! Love, Alyssa

In loving memory of Lou, a wonderful person, our thoughts and prayers are with all of his family. We all lost a good friend, neighbor, watchman and storyteller. He definitely knew how to make us laugh. I'm sure God has a special chair on the porch of heaven just for Lou. We will truly miss him.
