Where do I begin??? In May of 1985 Madalene took a chance on a young girl with no medical experience and hired her to work at Mercy Memorial Hospital as an aide. Almost 30 years later that young girl is still working at Mercy Memorial Hospital. I took a short stint away from the Emergency Department to work as house supervisor for 8 years but last year came back home to the ER. From that first day in May 1985, the ER has been my home. I have seen a lot of people come and go in that time. A lot of changes. But it has always been home. Thanks to Madalene. She was a mentor, a leader, a teacher and most of all, a friend. I am the nurse I am today because of Madalene. She will always be a part of me and always be in my heart. My deepest sympathy for your loss. Just know she touched many lives and was deeply loved.
