Marvin Falcon Obituary

Marvin Falcon died at age 86 on August 11th, 2022 in Los Angeles, CA. He was a beloved husband, father, son, brother, grandpa and friend. He spent his life sharing his passion for playing the guitar and was a professional guitarist, composer, arranger and teacher.

He taught guitar at Cedar Crest College and gave private lessons from his home studio for six decades. As a professional guitarist, Marvin recorded and performed with The 4 Most, Miriam Makeba, Harry Belafonte and the Paul Winter Jazz Sextet. I was so sad to hear of Marvin's passing. I took guitar lessons from him when I was a student at Cedar Crest College. I played guitar for the rest of my life (I'm 65 now). He was a wonderful teacher and a very kind man!

Hello Ted and Family. I was very saddened to hear of your loss. I too studied classical guitar at your house in Allentown in the late `70´s. I purchased a classical guitar from your Dad and still have it. It is among one of my most treasured instruments. I remember a picnic your Dad had in the park for his students. Ted was bopping around talking to all of us with those beautiful eyes and that violin that was almost as big as him. I lost my Dad on Monday so I share in your grief. When I heard of your Dad´s passing, my heart just ached all the more. My sympathies to you all. Marvin was a treasure and I´m so glad you are continuing his musical legacy.

My condolences to Marvin´s family. I took lessons from Marvin for a few years in the lower level of his house. I credit Marvin with my favoring finger-style playing over the use of a pick. A great teacher.

To the Family of Marvin,
We had the great pleasure of having The Marvin Falcon Duo (Marvin and Pat) play for our wedding reception at the Hotel Bethlehem in 1989. They were amazing, professional, and the "icing on the cake". We are fortunate to have a great video of our reception that we watch every year. Their music will be saved for posterity-sake.
Rest In Peace Marvin and thank you.
Sincerely,
Harry and Lorraine Taylor
