Michael J. Berish, 67, of Bethlehem, PA passed away Sunday, August 19, 2012 at his residence. He was born on April 27, 1945 in Hazleton, son of the late Michael A. and Margaret (Grega) Berish. He was the husband of Judith (Kovacs) Berish. They celebrated 44 years of marriage this past June. He graduated from Hazleton High School 1963. He also graduated from Penn State University 1967 with a degree in Accounting and received his MBA from Lehigh University 1970. After graduation he was hired by PPL as a computer programmer. He progressed through a number of different positions in their Division Operations department and later in their Engineering department. He was later promoted to positions in their Financial Department, ultimately becoming Manager- Financial Planning. He retired from PPL in 2003, and, along with his wife Judith spent half the year in PA and the other half in Florida playing golf or fishing. He was a member of St. Annes Catholic Church and Silver Creek Country Club. He was a kind and loving man who was devoted to his family. Survivors: He will be lovingly remembered by his wife, Judith; daughters, Melissa wife of Neil Kuyper of Hawaii, and Alison wife of Nicholas Karpow of Walnutport; brother, David Berish of Hazleton; and grandchildren, Matthew, Maile, Katie, and Jonny. Services: A prayer service will held 10:15 a.m., Saturday, August 25, 2012 at the Connell Funeral Home, 245 E. Broad St., Bethlehem, PA 18018 followed by a Mass of Christian Burial, 11 a.m. at St. Annes Catholic Church, 450 Washington Ave., Bethlehem, PA 18018. Calling hours will be held Friday evening from 6 to 8 p.m. and Saturday morning 9:15 to 10:15 a.m. at the funeral home. Contributions: Memorial contributions may be made to the church.
