Miriam Raddin
Miriam Wert McConnell Raddin, 95, of 800 Hausman Road, Allentown, PA died Wednesday, November 3 at Luther Crest Nursing Facility. She was born in Shamokin, PA, December 6, 1914, the daughter of John A. McConnell and Mary Alice (Wert) McConnell Price. Mrs. Raddin graduated from Shamokin High School in 1932, and studied music at Bucknell University. She was a teacher of piano and organ for many years. In Shamokin she was a member of United Bretheren Church, now First United Methodist Church. She was also music director at First Presbyterian Church, and was very active in a number of civic organizations; she was a driving force in forming the Shamokin-Coal Township Public Library. Later she served as organist and choir director at Salem United Church of Christ in Allentown. Survivors: She was the last surviving member of her family. Mrs Raddin was predeceased by her brothers, John Ferdinand and Russell McConnell; and her husband, Dr. Joseph B. Raddin. Services: Funeral services will be held on Sunday, November 7, at 2 p.m. at the Farrow Funeral Home, 6 and Chestnut Streets, Shamokin, PA, with the Reverend Zachary Hopple presiding. A viewing will be held from 1 to 2 p.m. at the Funeral Home. Burial will be in the Shamokin Cemetery at a later date.

Miriam also served as Dean of the Lehigh Valley Chapter of the American Guild of Organists from 1973-1974. She was an excellent musician and a good friend. (Linda Maule, Easton PA)

I knew Miriam through her dedicated service to the Lehigh Valley Chapter of the American Guild of Organists - where she served as Placement Director. She was a shining example to us all - keeping quality music going under difficult and trying circumstances. Now she joins the heavenly choirs and I will miss her.
