Nelson L. Fogel
Nelson L. Fogel, 67, of Gracedale, Upper Nazareth Township, formerly of Nazareth, died Wednesday, June 14, 2006, in Easton Hospital. He was born March 23, 1939, in Stockertown, a son of the late Lester T. and Carrie E. (Weiant) Fogel. Nelson and his wife, Edith M. Grube, observed their 38th wedding anniversary last September. Nelson worked as a baker for Maiers Bakery and the former Schaibles Bakery in the dough room for more than 40 years. Previously, he worked for the Pen Argyl Toy Factory. He was a graduate of Nazareth High School and later served in the Army. Nelson was a member of St. Johns Evangelical Lutheran Church and St. Johns United Church of Christ, both of Nazareth. He was an avid bowler and bowled in the Schaibles and Blue Valley leagues. Nelson was also an avid sports fan. Survivors: Wife, Edith M. (Grube) Fogel at Gracedale; three daughters, Cynthia Hunter and husband Willard of Upper Nazareth Township, Brenda Timpa and husband John of Middleburgh, New York, Christine Fogel of Pen Argyl; brother, Raymond C. Fogel and wife Janet of Williams Township; sister, Nancy Jean Shankweiler and husband Ray David of Nazareth; granddaughter, Kimberly Frable and husband Shawn of Effort; grandson, Chad Hunter of Nazareth; three great-grandchildren. Nelson was predeceased by a brother, four sisters and a great-grandson, Austin. Services: Memorial Service at 10 a.m. Saturday, June 17, in Schmidt Funeral Home P.C., 407 Belvidere St., Nazareth. Call from 9 a.m. until the time of services Saturday in the funeral home. Interment with military honors will be in Hope Cemetery, Hecktown. Contributions: May be made in memory of Nelson to the American Diabetes Association, 501 N. 17th St., Suite 212, Allentown, PA 18104.
