Nicholas De Corso Obituary

Nicholas F. "Nick" De Corso, a native and longtime resident of Allentown, PA, died on July 18, 2021, aged 95, in San Diego, CA, where he had lived the last nine months at 2567 2d Ave., Unit 205, 92103.

Born May 21, 1926, Nick was raised at 718 N. Jordan St., one of three children of Italian immigrants. As an adult he lived at 738 N. Meadow St. for more than 60 years. He graduated from Allentown High School, served in the US Navy during World War II, and was a skilled textile cutter for decades after. He greatly enjoyed spending time with his family, eating a good (and large) meal - especially his wife's Italian dishes - and having a few wines or beers with friends and relatives. Nick was a solid pinochle player, and for many years enjoyed playing in the Italian and German clubs in Allentown. He was always a lot of fun.

Nick had little hair but lots of heart. He was a life-long Democrat and union man. He was sincere and unpretentious, with a strong and simple moral code: don't lie, cheat, steal, or be cheap. He greatly valued education, and was very proud that with his and his wife's support both of his children graduated from college and became successful lawyers. He never spoiled his children, but always spoiled his grandchildren.

Nick is survived by his wife of over 70 years, Charlotte; sons Anthony and Nicholas; and grandchildren Natali, Samantha, and Kevin. All will miss him, but are thankful for the many years they shared with Nick, a wonderful husband, father, and Pop-Pop.

Dear Charlotte and Family,
I'm so sorry to hear of the loss of your dear husband, Nicky. Growing up on Green Street, I knew you both all my life and remember your walks in the neighborhood, always together with a friendly smile . I remember you taking trips to CA to visit your children. You were always such good people. We had so much fun growing up in the "old" neighborhood, surrounded by wonderful people, we were like one big happy family. I miss those times so much. Charlotte, I hope you are doing well. My deepest sympathy to you and your family. Sending hugs and prayers.
Love,
Rosie Spagnoletti Miller

I was so sorry to read of the passing of Mr. DeCorso. My sisters Jeannie , Bonnie and I often talk about the old neighborhood on Meadow St. I can still see Nick and Charlotte walking down the street together, such lovely people. My thoughts and prayers are with you all.

Dear Charlotte and Family,
I was so sorry to hear of Nicky's passing. I knew him my entire life and always thought of him as such a good person.
Reading his beautiful obituary has brought to mind so many wonderful memories of our neighborhood and the people who lived there, and the DeCorso and Frassetto families are very much a part of my cherished childhood memories.
Charlotte, my heart goes out to you, Nicky, Anthony, and your family at this sad time. You're all in my thoughts and prayers.
Love and peace,
Donna

Dear Charlotte, Anthony & Nicky,
We are so very sorry to hear about Nicky's passing. My parents have many happy memories of their "cousin" from living in the neighborhood and from the Italian Club. I have many memories of playing in their alley - sleigh riding, playing kickball, etc. It was an idyllic life. We hope happy memories bring you comfort in the days ahead.
Love,
Karen Spagnoletti Poshefko

So sad to read about your father“s death. I lost both parents several years ago. Please know that my prayers are with your mother, and with you and Nick.

My sincere condolences to the DeCorso family and their friends. Tony and Nick, I'm sorry to see of your loss, but grateful to see of your father's long life. You both were such good friends through junior and senior high that I was looking forward to seeing you again, but not like this. I pray that you have years of good memories to think of and that they help you heal from this loss. I've lost both of my parents, so I know that it's never easy no matter what age. God bless you!

To the De Corso family, so sorry for your loss. Nick and
Charlotte lived a few doors away from my grandmother's house on Meadow St. They were a great and terrific family. Seems everyone played pinochle in that neighborhood. Thoughts and prayers are with the family at this difficult time.
