I was sorry to hear of Pete Gulden's death. I ran against him in track. I was a Northampton High School athlete. I appreciated competing with him since I saw him as a compassionate and caring opponent. I enjoyed enjoyed running against him and found him to be an challenging competitor. I can remember vividly the preparation our team would undergo to get ready to try and subdue Palmerton. After his graduation I never saw him again, but our competing with one another remains a vivid memory. May "Pete" rest in peace and may each family member feel God's hand as they go through this very difficult time.

Tres and Dave:
I have so many wonderful memories of your Dad. He was a fabulous guy and a great friend. We shared many great and some worrisome times together starting in medical school, then serving as flight surgeons in Viet Nam in 1967-8 and then later as Residents at Jackson Memorial Hospital. It was in Miami that through your father and mother, I met Judy Dobbs, my wife of 40 years (and counting.) Your father was a smart, compassionate, athletic, handsome, funny, loyal, engaged and wonderful family man. I know how much he loved you and how much he wanted the best for you. He has left for you a legacy of love and a model for how to be. Think of him every day, as I know you are, try your best to live up to that legacy and remember his goodness and his love.

Classmate at W&J College ('61). Pete and I had many pre-med classes together and he was always a real gentleman. Intelligent and always ready to help a classmate. I recall that in our freshman chemistry "weed-out" class the instructor said to look to the guy on your left and right, 2 out of 3 of you won't be there in 4 years. I was in the group of 3 with Pete and we ALL made it and became compassionate physicians. Didn't know until now that Pete and I shared the same speciality. May God bless him and his family. Whichi Coax, Pete!

Pete was a Phi Psi fraternity brother at W&J College; and, he was my "Big Brother" when I was a Phi Psi pledge in 1959. Will always remember Pete as being a leader, focused on becoming an MD, having a sense of humor; and, knowing how to have fun with his friends. On the fun side, I recall coming into Pete's room on the top floor of the fraternity house where he shared a room with Bob Hallman, his close friend and fellow W&J basketball player. On this particular day, I discovered a maze of test tubes, large glass beakers, hoses connecting one to another, a small gas burner etc. "Pete",I said, "Looks like you are conducting a really big and serious experiment for Chem class." Pete replied casually, "No,not exactly. Just experimenting on the creation of a fine beverage." Don't know how that experiment turned out but sounds like he had a life filled with purpose,a loving family and friends. I wish to extend my condolences to his entire family. Also, a special note to Pete's brother Jan, whom I recall visiting W&J and the Phi Psi fraternity during his senior year in high school.

I was Pete's college room mate, fratenity brother and basketball team mate. We didn't keep in close contact but when we did talk by phone and recently at his home it was as though all the years vanished and we were 20 again. Pete will be forever a part of me and I believe I am a much better person because he was my friend...I miss him dearly already.

The kingdom of heaven welcomed home one of his most noble, courageous and strongest angels. May the certainty of seeing him again one day bring you peace and comfort and may the knowledge that he is free and with God make you smile. Never had I seen such courage and grace despite such incredible discomfort and never had I seen such love and dedication from a loving son. May God keep you close to his heart always.

What a fantastic doctor and friend. His ability not only to diagnose an ailment and correct it was only surpassed by his great bedside manner. I loved his humor, sportsmanship and and absolute love for his patients. Thanks for sharing your life and professional blessings with us Dr. Gulden.

Dr. Gulden was primary care physician to my husband and me for 15 years, until he retired. Eventually, he also became my parent's physician -- they drove from Melbourne to see him -- and also treated my brother during an illness. Dr. Gulden was wise and kind in ways that can't be taught in medical school, and he treated us, his patients, with meticulous care. We miss him keenly, and extend our heartfelt sympathy to his family.

My respect and admiration for this brave man is beyond expression. It was a personal pleasure and honor to be able to participate in his care and endeavor to relieve his pain. I will always treasure the memory of our "medical" discussions and his ability to stay strong and philosophical in the face of great discomfort. What a marvelous man, loving father, dedicated friend, and one of the best physicians I have ever had the pleasure of knowing - in my 40+ years of nursing.
