Ralph Springer, Jr.
Ralph Springer, Jr., age 79, of New Smithville, formerly of Bethlehem, passed away peacefully on Friday morning November 15, 2013 at Whitehall Manor, where he was a guest for the past three years. Born in Bethlehem to the late Ralph and Esther (Johnson) Springer, Sr., he was the husband of Machie (Yoshiyama) Springer for 44 years at the time of her passing in 2001. A devoted member of the UCC Congregation of Ziegels Union Church, Breinigsville, he was a former Church Treasurer and member of the Consistory. A proud Veteran, Ralph served in the Army Signal Corps. as a cryptographer stationed in Korea and Japan. He was employed at the Bethlehem Steel Corp. for 34 years in the Industrial Engineering Dept as an Industrial Analyst retiring in 1986. He enjoyed being a volunteer for Meals On Wheels of Lehigh County. Survivors: Daughter, Amy E. Hower and her husband Blair of Kriedersville; grandchildren, Andrew and Kelly; sister, Jane Driscoll of Coopersburg; nieces, nephews and their families; predeceased by brother, Eldridge Springer and sister, Althea Gross. Services: 1 p.m. on Sunday, November 24, 2013 in the Church, 9990 Ziegels Church Road, Breinigsville, PA 18031 with Rev. Candi Cain-Borgman officiating. Visitation with his family will be after the service at a luncheon at Church. Interment will be private.
