ROBERT H. HEIL Sr.

1921 - 2018

Robert H. Heil, Sr., 97, of Hellertown, died Wednesday, September 19, 2018 at his residence. He is the husband of the late Eva M. (Chromczak) Heil. He was born in Hellertown on August 29, 1921 to the late Henry J. and Verta E. (Hedrick) Heil. He served our country faithfully in the US Navy during WWII and retired as a Navy Chief Petty Officer. He was an insurance agent for MetLife, Bethlehem for many years until retiring. Previously worked at the Bethlehem Steel at 20 years, co-owned and operated the former Hellertown Seafood Market and also drove bus for the Saucon Valley School District. Robert was a member of First United Church of Christ, Hellertown, where he served as the former Sexton, had served on its Consistory. He was a proud Life Boy Scout. He was a Charter member of the US Naval Reserve Center, Bethlehem. SURVIVORS: Loving children: Robert H. (Jo-Ann) Heil, Jr. of Lower Saucon Twp., Rebecca J. (Stephen) Baldwin of Dover; sister: Elaine Fillman of Oreland; 3 grandchildren, 6 great grandchildren. Predeceased by a granddaughter: Katie E. Baldwin, siblings: Virginia E. Bodder, Richard A, James A., & Henry E. Heil. SERVICE: Family and friends are invited to call 12 noon - 1 p.m. Saturday, September 22, 2018 at the Heintzelman Funeral Home, Inc. 326 Main Street – Hellertown followed by the service at 1 p.m. The interment will conclude services at Friedensville Cemetery, Upper Saucon Twp.
