Robert Kocher Obituary

Robert P. "Rupp" Kocher, 88 of Whitehall, PA. passed away December 8, 2016, at St. Luke's Hospital & Health Network in Bethlehem, PA. Born September 27, 1928, he was the son of the late Joseph and Marion (Crauthmal) Kocher. He was the husband of Christine R. (Becks), with whom he shared 66 years of marriage this past July 15, 2016. Robert was last employed as sanitation foreman for Whitehall Twsp. Municipal for over 20 years before retiring in 1991. Prior to he worked as a truck driver for Ralph D. Weaver Oil Co., Allentown, PA. for several years. Robert was a member of Shepherd of the Hills Lutheran Church, Whitehall, PA; He volunteered his time to the Egypt Park Association mowing the grass, and was an honorary member of the Board of Directors for the Egypt Memorial Park. He was both a former volunteer firefighter and treasurer for the Egypt Fire Co. Survivors: Wife, Christine, at home, sons, Robert G. Kocher of Whitehall, PA and Ronald J. Kocher and wife Dorothy of Doylestown, PA, daughter, Denise C. wife of Raymond Gangaway of Whitehall, PA, brother, John Kocher of Walnutport, PA, sisters, Lorraine wife of Lee Oswald of Slatington, PA and Thelma wife of Richard Seidel of New Tripoli, PA; 2 granddaughters; Christy wife of Carey Furlo and Nicole and a great-grandson, Zachary. Services: Services and visitation will be private and at the convenience of the family. Arrangements are under the care of Schisler Funeral Home, 2119 Washington Avenue Northampton, PA. 18067. Interment will be in Egypt Cemetery, Whitehall Twp (Egypt), PA. Contributions: May be made in his memory to Egypt Park Association or Shepherd of the Hills Lutheran Church Memorial fund both C/O the funeral home. My deepest Sympathy to the family. I had great memories of Rupp. He taught how to drive and operate the 1958 American LaFrance Fire Truck at the Egypt Fire Co.
