Robert L. Layfield
Robert L. Layfield, 75, of Palmer Township, died December 2, 2009. He was employed by Central Railroad in New Jersey for 30 years before retiring. He served in the Navy during the Korean War. Bob had a love for reading anything science but remained a country boy at heart. He loved the mountains, gardening and painting country scenery. Survivors: Wife, the former Barbara Blomquist; sons, James of Bethlehem Township, Robert of Palmer Township; daughters, Linda Zimmermann of Glendale, Ariz., Deborah Tomlinson of Avon, Ohio; six siblings; six grandchildren. He was predeceased by a son, Thomas. Services: 2 p.m. Saturday in the Ashton Funeral Home, 14th and Northampton streets, Easton. Call 7-8:30 p.m. Friday. Bobby was a favorite uncle when we were kids in WV. We remember how he always smiled and made time for us small nieces. He helped build a log playhouse that we loved.
