Robert J. May
Robert J. May, 64, of 2686 Mahoning Drive East, Lehighton, passed into eternal life on Sept. 21, 2007, at Lehigh Valley Hospital, Salisbury Township. He was the husband of Janet K. Moyer May. They were married for 22 years on June 29. Born in Newark, N.J., he was the son of the late Nathaniel R. and Eleanor E. Ehrman. He was of the Catholic faith. Upon his graduation from Salem (Mass.) High School, he served with the Army during the Vietnam War in the 4th Infantry Division, 40th Armored Battalion, achieving the rank of Sergeant 1st Class after serving three tours of duty. He was later assigned to Fort Carson, Colo., where he was trained in drug education, tracked vehicle mechanics and defense hazardous materials/waste handling, and later was employed in the oil analysis lab. After his enlistment ended, he worked in security at Saint Anselms College, New Hampshire, nd at the Mall of New Hampshire, Manchester. He most recently was employed at the Tobyhanna Army Depot as a materials sorter until retiring after 15 years of service. He was a member of Shoemaker/Haydt American Legion Post 314 and Orioles Nest 183, both of Lehighton. Survivors: Wife; three stepsons, Craig R. Haupt and his wife Kim, Kyle D. Haupt, and Krys M. Haupt and his wife Nancy, all of Lehighton; two sisters, Patricia, wife of Donald Curran of St. Augustine, Fla., Theresa, wife of Michael Maher of Lehighton; six stepgrandchildren; nieces, nephews. He was preceded in death by a sister, Ann Sharp. Services: 11 a.m. Thursday, Sept. 25, Andrew P. Ovsak Funeral Home, 4th and Iron streets, Lehighton, with Rev. Robert A. von Frisch officiating, followed by military honors under the direction of Lehighton U.V.O. at the funeral home. Call 10-11 a.m. Tuesday at the funeral home. Interment will be private, at the convenience of the family. Contributions: In lieu pf flowers, contributions may be made to Trinity Evangelical Lutheran Church, 175 S. 3rd St., Lehighton, PA 18235 or American Cancer Society, 33 W. Ridge St., Lansford, PA 18232.

Dear Jan,
I am sad to hear of Bob's passing on. I am proud to have known him and worked with him. He will be sadly missed. I also would like to thank Bob for his service to our country. God Bless you Jan and please keep in touch.
