Ronald Fradeneck Obituary

Ronald John Fradeneck, of Bethlehem, passed away peacefully 82 years young May 20, 2017, in the presence of his family after a brief illness. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather, and known for his kindness and thoughtful disposition. Supportive and quick to lend a hand to anyone in need, he made sure those who were in his life knew how much he loved and appreciated them. Ron lived a full and happy life, both personally and professionally, and will be missed by those blessed to have known him. Ron was an avid golfer, and the fish feared him. He was a skilled tinkerer and passionate about learning new skills. He was a lifetime member of Saint Anne Catholic Church, Bethlehem, and a longtime executive of the Lehigh Southside Boosters Club. He participated in many activities for both organizations. Saturdays in the fall, he tailgated with the boosters, while Sunday mornings year-round, he greeted parishioners. Every summer, Ron enjoyed family trips to the beach and fishing in Canada. Following service in the United States Army, he led a successful professional career, starting in 1953, and held engineering and technical management positions with Bethlehem Steel Corporation at Homer Research Laboratory. He held five patents that he authored or co-authored, which improved the production and quality of finished steel products. He also received various national awards from the American Iron and Steel Institute and the American Institute of Metallurgical Engineering. Survivors: Ron is survived by Patricia (Bilsak), his loving wife and partner of 61 years. Together they raised five children: Judith Shields (Kevin), Jane Sands (Frank), Ronald S. (Sara), David J. (Judith) and Timothy J. (Jennifer). He also leaves behind 11 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren. Services: A visitation will be held on Thursday, May 25, 2017 from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. at Connell Funeral Home, 245 E. Broad St. Bethlehem, PA 18018 and again on Friday from 8:30 a.m. to 9:30 a.m. A mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated 10:00 a.m. at Saint Anne Catholic Church, 450 E. Washington Ave. Bethlehem, PA 18017. Burial will be held at Holy Saviour Cemetery. Contributions: In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to St. Luke's Hospice: 240 Union Station Plaza, First floor, Bethlehem, PA 18015. My heartfelt condolences to the whole family on the loss of Ron. He was a good man and a treasured friend to Lehigh through his long relationship with the Southside Boosters. I was sorry to be out of town and miss his services, and wanted to express my appreciation for his friendship and support of Lehigh's student athletes, coaches and staff. Warm wishes for many enduring and happy memories.

My thoughts and prayers for Ron's family through this time of sorrow. I wish I could have attended the viewing or service, but work schedule would not allow. I enjoyed Ron's always upbeat and sunny disposition at the South Side Booster events and gatherings. He was a true gentleman, and I will miss him.

So sorry to hear the news. When my Dad was alive and attending the booster events at lehigh football games, Ron would always come over and be welcomed for one of my Dad's famous "Manhattens". I like to think they are doing this right now. God Bless!

Dear Pat & Family,
Can't find the proper words that express our sorrow and shock
that Ron passed away.
Although, we became friends later in life, we quickly discovered
we lost an opportunity to get to know a valuable friend much earlier in life. We will miss him especially at our weekly Sunday breakfasts. He may be gone but will not be forgotten .
Love & Prayers to all,

Butch & MaryAnn

Very sad to hear Ron passed away. I always enjoyed playing golf with Ron and listening to his stories, especially about fishing in Canada.

I'm sure I speak for all members of the Tall Cedars Golf League, that Ron will be missed and that we will keep your family and Ron in our thoughts and prayers.

You lived your life the way it's supposed to be done and will be greatly missed, the only real hero I have ever known. We are just going to have to wait a while before we get to tee it up again. Rest in Peace. I love you Dad...Ron
