Ronald Stauffer Obituary

Ronald Bryan Stauffer, 90, of Bethlehem, formerly of Benner Road, Allentown, passed away on August 26, 2023 at home. He was the husband of Helen R. Kohler and the late Maureen Sullivan Stauffer. Ronald was the project manager and assistant to the construction manager at the former Bethlehem Steel Corporation until retiring in 1997. During his career, he worked in various capacities within the construction, law and sales departments. His earlier titles included contract coordinator, pricer, designer and field engineer. Born in Sellersville, he was the son of the late Rholand A. and Anna K. (Mickley) Stauffer. He graduated from Emmaus High School in 1950 and won a scholarship to Duke University, where he received his BS Degree in Civil Engineering in 1954. Upon graduation, he was recruited by Bethlehem Steel Corp. for their management training program. Soon after, he was drafted into the U.S. Army for two years. He was active in the Boy Scouts, becoming an Eagle Scout. Ron and Helen traveled extensively and very happily taught as visiting professors at the University of Eastern Africa over a ten-year period. While there they gained more family, the Ngendahimana family. One member of the Ngendahimana family passed on their love of Ronald to their son, naming him Ron.
