Ruth Derhammer

1923 - 2017

Ruth O. Derhammer, 93, of Danielsville, passed away at home on Tuesday, June 27, 2017, surrounded by her loving family. She was the wife of the late Owen O. Derhammer with whom she shared 31 years of marriage prior to his death in 1973. Born in Upper Nazareth Township, on October 03, 1923, she was a daughter of the late Robert F. Sr. and Pearl (Keiper) Werkheiser. Ruth and her husband owned and operated a Texaco Gas Station, in Danielsville, for 32 years before retiring. She enjoyed crocheting and she was a member of Salem United Methodist Church of Danielsville. Survivors: She will be lovingly remembered and dearly missed by her daughters, Verna Silfies, with whom she resided and Ruthann Henry and her husband, Preston Sr., of Danielsville; a son, Oliver O. Derhammer and his wife, Catherine, of Danielsville; seven grandchildren, Ray Silfies, Steward Silfies and his wife, Tracy, Stacy Gogel and her husband, Robert, Tammy Kovach and her husband, Eric, Preston Henry, Jr. and his wife, Sarah, Brian Derhammer and Scott Derhammer and his wife, Sabrina; nine great-grandchildren; two brothers, Marvin O. Werkheiser, of East Allen Township and Norman A. Werkheiser, of Tunkhannock; a sister, Evelyn Bond, of Moore Township; many nieces and nephews. In addition to her late husband, Owen, she was predeceased by four sisters, Helen Danner, Elsie Eberly, Hilda Hottle and Claudia Dutoit, and ten brothers, Robert Jr., Roland her twin, Russell, Leo, Ray, William Charles "Doc", Nevin "Popeye", Paul and an infant brother. Services: will be held on Saturday, July 01, 2017, at 11:00 A.M. in the GEORGE G. BENSING FUNERAL HOME, Inc., 2165 Community Drive, Route 946, Village of Moorestown - Bath, PA 18014. Friends and relatives are invited to call on Saturday morning from 10:00 A.M. to 11:00 A.M. in the funeral home. Interment will follow in Danielsville Union Cemetery, Danielsville.
