Ruth SNYDER Obituary

Ruth Irene Snyder, 71 of Rotonda West Florida and a former resident of Nazareth PA, passed away on Tuesday, July 20th while under the care of Sarasota Memorial Hospital in Sarasota Florida.

Ruth is survived by her husband of 52 years Alan P, her son Jason P (Stacy) Snyder of Lee's Summit MO, a daughter Emily D Snyder of Nazareth PA, and a daughter Elizabeth J (David) Anderson of Inver Grove Heights MN. Seven Grandchildren, Josiah, Joel, Finley, Nathan, Lydia, Henry and Norah. She is also survived by her brother James L (Gay Marie) McGowan of Clearwater Florida, her sisters Gwendolyn McGowan of Gaithersburg MD, Deborah (Dennis) Protch of Waterloo Illinois, Beth (Brad) Cooper of Slippery Rock PA, and Melissa Bish of Butler PA and 10 nieces and nephews. Ruth was preceded in death by her parents, Mr & Mrs James L McGowan, and grandson Declan.

Ruth was a 1967 graduate of Slippery Rock High School and attended Slippery Rock University as an art major, specializing in fibers.

Ruth was a homemaker all of her life, and was able to raise it to an artform. She had a passion for reading, knitting and cooking and was always ready to share her latest book, pattern or recipe.

Planning parties and entertaining people delighted her and she would show her guests love by treating them to her latest culinary masterpiece. Many folks have had the pleasure of breaking bread with Ruth and no one ever walked away from her table without a full stomach and a memorable story or two. She had a way of making every thing she served special, and everyone she served feel special.

Ruth's greatest joy in life was her abiding trust and unshakable faith in God, which served as a rock for our family. She took the great commission to heart and would talk about salvation and the bible with anyone who would listen. No one was a stranger to Ruth and she always shared God's message to whomever He brought into her life.

One of her most outstanding qualities was the depth of love she had for her family. Time with her grandchildren was very precious and rewarding for her. She had a wonderful and incredibly witty sense of humor, and never failed to bring joy to the people she loved. All who were blessed to know Ruth will miss her deeply.

Cremation will be handled by Baldwin Brothers and per Ruth's wishes, there will not be a funeral service. Interment will be at Crestview Memorial Gardens Grove City PA. A celebration of Ruth's life will be scheduled at a later date.

In lieu of flowers, Ruth's family asks you to consider making a donation in her memory to the World Central Kitchen Organization on their website wck.org. Their mission is to help to create a world where there is always a hot meal, an encouraging word, and a helping hand in hard times.

Although we haven´t seen Ruth since you moved, I´ve always remembered her as joyful and kind and a great cook! Such a loving and friendly woman, it was a pleasure to call her my friend. I´m sorry for the families loss, but what a bright star in heaven. Well done Ruth. Well done.
