Silvia Maria Diaz, 62, of Allentown, passed away peacefully on June 28th surrounded by her loving family. She was the wife of Nelson A. Diaz. They were married for 44 years on May 6th. Silvia earned her Bachelor of Arts degree from Rutgers University and her Master of Science degree in Education from Wilkes University. She was the Director of the Upward Bound Program for Kutztown University until her retirement. Previously, she was a Math Facilitator for Johns Hopkins University and began her career as a math teacher in the Allentown School District at Raub Middle School. Silvia was born in the Catholic Faith in Cardenas, Cuba. She was the daughter of the late Luis F. and Olga R. (Larrauri) Garcia. Her pleasant and vibrant personality was contagious to everyone she met and will be greatly missed.

Survivors: Husband, Nelson A Diaz and Sons: Nelson L. Diaz of Denver, CO; Philip M. Diaz and his wife Shannon of Emmaus, PA; and Daniel E. Diaz and his wife Magan of Allentown, PA. Sister: Lourdes Diaz of Orlando, FL. and Grandchildren: Nelson Gordon and Victor Joseph. Also many cousins, nieces, and nephews.

A Memorial Mass will be held on Thursday, July 8th at 10:00 A.M. at the Cathedral of Saint Catharine of Siena located at 1825 W. Turner St. Allentown, PA 18104. Arrangements by the J.S. Burkholder Funeral Home, Allentown. Condolences may be offered at: www.jsburkholder.com

I remember Mrs .Diaz laughing all the time and spending time with her students and teaching them her skills in math. She will be truly missed in my heart and I have wonderful memories of her in school when I went to Raub Middle School. God bless her family and much love to and respect to her family.

My Condolences to the Diaz family. I worked with Silvia at Raub Middle School. I will always remember her beautiful smile and how she always made me feel welcolmed. Thank you for all your support while at Raub. Running into you at Guiridy Hair Salon was the highlight of my day. You were and will always be so special and will remain in my heart forever. Dear Nelson and boys,
We are so sorry to hear Silvia has gone onto the next life. She was always so uplifting and fun to be with. We had our `three boys club´ when our boys were young and spent many days together playing and sharing. Life kept us busy and we haven´t seen you as we did then, but there would be the occasional run in and quick hello.
