Stephen Roma Obituary
Stephen L. Roma, 44, of Emmaus, died Dec. 16, 2007 in Lehigh Valley Hospital, Salisbury Township. He was the husband of Elisabeth M. Nunez-Roma for the past 16 years. He was a structural designer for B & H Solariums, Chalfont, Pa. Survivors: Wife; mother, Patricia (Stickler) Roma of Emmaus; son, Jacob, and daughter, Gabrielle, both at home; sister, Susan, wife of Daniel Crispell; nephews, niece, Paul Victor Nunez, Carlo and Dante Arnone, Nicholas and Natalie Nunez. He was predeceased by his father, Louis J. Roma. Services: memorial 6 p.m. Thursday, Bachman, Kulik & Reinsmith Funeral Home, 225 Elm St., Emmaus. Call 5-6 p.m. Thursday. Contributions: In lieu of flowers, to Elisabeth Roma (to use for the benefit of her minor children, Jacob (14) and Gabrielle (7).

Jake, though I only know you as your school bus driver, I can truly empathize with you. I, too, lost my father when I was a teenager. He meant the world to me as I am sure your dad did to you. You are so very lucky to have had your dad coach you. He found special time to spend with you doing something you love. Always cherish that time and all your memories of your dad. I believe that he will be with you always, watching and guiding as you grow to be a man and a father yourself. Make him proud of you. Help your mom and protect your sister. Even though you are a character on the bus, I know you are a good kid at heart. My thoughts and prayers are with you and your family as you all cope with and grieve the loss of your dad. Remember, you have many friends and other people who are willing to help you through this difficult time.

I just wanted to remark what a nice tribute tonight's service was to Steve. I was particularly pleased to see so many of our past players show up to say "goodbye" to him-that meant a lot to me as I'm sure it did to Steve, too. And that so many people came by to pay their respects showed how much he was loved and respected. Rest in peace my friend, and perhaps we'll coach together again someday. We'll miss you.

When we heard the news about Steve our whole family was in total shock. Although we only knew you through soccer, I believe there is a bond that grows when kids are on a soccer team that can never be broken.
Lisa, your husband was a very special man and always held an important place in Kevin's life. He was always there to support and stand by him no matter what the circumstance was. Jake, you were very lucky to have your dad coach you. This is a time that you can always remember and cherish.

Wow I don't know what to say,
I remember the seasons that I played soccer when you were the assistant coach. I remember how much fun I had playing soccer with you and coach Les. You taught me many of things about soccer from plays to working hard. As a soccer coach, you taught me so much and I looked up to you because you taught me things that I may never have known without your influence. Thank you for always being there. You will hold a special place in my heart and memory.

We are shocked and deeply saddened by this tragic news. Coach Steve was a wonderful man and a true role model for the boys both on and off the field. We have such fond memories of our teams with Les, Steve, and Lisa creating a wonderful experience for the boys of learning about soccer, fair play, and growing as young men. Bobby was truly influenced so positively by Coach Steve and he respected him very deeply. His influence on Bobby's confidence helped make Bobby a better player and a more confident kid - this gift will be Bobby's for a lifetime. Our hearts are heavy with sadness and our prayers go out to Lisa, Jake, and Gabby at this most difficult time.
