As classmates of Terry we had some great times in high school. What Pat and I remember the most about Terry was throughtout school and life Terry had this friendly and positve outlook on life. You never heard him complain about his personel problems. He was always upbeat and positve. This is how we will remember our classmate and friend. David and Pat Hawk

I had the opportunity to meet Terry through Donna and the Legion. I am an emotional person so I have been putting this off as long as I good. Terry was a great person who cared about everyone that he came in contact with on a daily basis. He even found ways to make us laugh when we went to visit him in the hospital. I still remember him sitting at the end of the bar at the legion playing cards. When I walked in he would ask about my status on a teaching job..my answer nothing yet...his reply..I don't know why someone with your personality doesn't have one yet. Whether he knew it or not, he gave me hope. Cookie, your comment at the hospital that I won't forget--this isn't word for word but the gist and meaning I got was--don't let what David does ever bother you life is too short. Donna you can share stories with me anytime at the store. I will miss him, I am glad I have memories which will last my lifetime. Donna, Cookie, and Mike, you ever need anything, you know not to hesitate to call. Love, David & Wendy Bussey

Although I only met Terry and Eleanor toward the end of Terry's illness, they will both hold a special place in my memories. Terry's zest for life and grace and dignity in dying serve to remind me why I choose to treat cancer patients. The love and support from Eleanor, the rest of the family, and all of his friends are truly inspiring and a reflection of what a wonderful person Terry was. I know I'm not alone in continuing to think of him as our "poster boy"- in many ways!

Pat Shearburn

August 9, 2004

I was so inspired when I met Terry. His strength and humor in the face of such a terrible illness and his determination to be our "poster patient" made him so special. His dry sense of humor, especially in the middle of the night, at times caught me off guard and had me laughing hours afterwards. I was impressed in the evenings, meeting his many friends, and feeling the amazing love they all had towards him. It is only a unique group of people that command that amount of love. Even when he knew he was dying his humor poked through, and he approached the end with a dignity we all would hope to have when our time arrives to say goodbye. Eleanor, you never left Terrys side and were such a great support. He pulled on your strengh to help him stay on course. You were both so fortunate to have one another. Its so difficult to say goodbye to someone you love and to ease their path - you did this with such grace and strengh - even to the point of getting him home. It is people like you and Terry that teach me every day, inspire me to keep learning and work at being good at my job, and show me the importance of love, caring and sharing. Thank you for the honor of being a part of your life at such a difficult time. Gods Speed. Pat Shearburn - LVH - Hospital

August 1, 2004

My deepest sympathy and prayers to Eleanor. My condolences to Donna, Michael, and Terry's extended family. What a wonderful, funny, warm, outgoing, unique individual Terry was. All of us were truly blessed to have known him. Just his presence would change your mood or the mood of an entire room of people. All Terry ever wanted was to have fun and to share that fun with each and every person he came in contact with. It took Terry only minutes to make a new friend. And each time you saw Terry he would nurture that friendship. Terry loved people, especially children. And Terry loved to make everyone he knew laugh. I was honored to be Terry's best man and his best friend for nearly 50 years. I think of him daily and now look forward to when we can continue our friendship. Simply said: Terry; HOW WONDERFUL LIFE WAS WHEN YOU WERE IN THE WORLD.

Terry was such an incredible man. I will miss him terribly. He always made me smile, as those were his wishes every single time I talked with him. As my Dad's best friend, he was also a family member- My Uncle. I am so lucky to have spent the last 21 years getting to know Terry. He has always kept me laughing hysterically! I know that when my wedding day (eventually) comes, he will still be there, as promised. I love you Terry and thank you.

Eleanor,

I met Terry in 1997, when I began working at Silberline. He went out of his way to make a lasting impression on me. His memories will live on forever in all our hearts, while Terry lives on in Heaven. I am sure, he as well as others who have gone before him, will now be some of our guardian angels.

July 25, 2004

Terry was such a wonderful friend. He always made me laugh with his humor and kidding around. It was such a gift to have had his friendship, throughout the good times and the bad. My fondest memory was when we were little guys and played basketball at First Ward School. He always pretended to be the "BIG O", Bill Russell. I always used to let him win...(smile). I have so many other wonderful memories of how great a person he was, not to mention our disagreements over the Eagles being better then the Cowboys.

Our deepest sympathy and prayers to your family

Terry, I will miss you.

Dear Ellie and family,

July 24, 2004

Our thoughts and prayers go out to Terry's family and Eleanor. There were so many fond memories we had with Terry, but one memory we will always remember was the witty advice he would always give Squirrel about life. Terry always had a great sense of humor, his insight on different topics, his jokes and his caring about his family and other people. (In spite of the fact he was a Cowboy fan) We will miss Terry very much even though we know he is in a better place. Terry, we will always remember you as a wonderful friend.

July 23, 2004

My most favorite rememberance of Terry was some 30 years ago when I went to Wild Wood New Jersey for a weekend with Terry and Roger Strohl . As usual we had a great time together, laughing and carrying on . On the way back we stopped to eat. I had run out of money so I was prepared just to wait in the car until they finished eating. But they would have none of that . Terry said come on, let's get somethin to eat and he and Rog covered my bill.I have never forgotten that act of kindness.Terry always made sure his friends were taken care of first. He was always a good friend and I will certainly miss him but will remember the good times we had and smile.
