Hi Dad,

I just solved my first crisis without your help. It actually turned out OK, although I think we almost joined you in heaven! I bet you were protecting us.

I miss you.

Your daughter.

June 21, 2007

Hi Dad,

I can't believe you're gone. It's starting to hit me.

It's not even four months. It sometimes feels like four years and other times four minutes. How can you be gone?

I love you.

Dear Dad,

This whole death thing stinks.

I don't want to see your grave.

I've been finding a lot of notes and cards and letters that I sent you over the years enclosed within your books and other things. I didn't know you saved those things like I did.

I miss you.

Hi Dad,

Tonight is the last night that my cancer grief group will meet.

I think I'm going to be OK.

You'd love today's Far Side! It's the one about the "dial-a-cat."

We all miss you terribly.

Love,
Your daughter

Today marks two months since we've spoken. Chris and I washed and waxed our cars this weekend and took a long drive. The weather was beautiful down here.

Vince was the best. I only had the opportunity to spend time with him on maybe half a dozen occasions, but he was a man who commanded respect, then followed it up with kindness, wisdom, and humor. A wonderful man whose presence will be missed.

Nance, Mary, Craig and Vince, To say that Vinnie will be missed is an understatement. He was a guiding light to my family and it was a true honor to have spent time with him. His faith, courage and kindness are an inspiration to all. I sincerely hope that he knows just how many people he touched during his journey. Someone told Hannah on the bus that they didn't know why she was crying because it was "only a neighbor". My 11 year old, in all her wisdom, simply replied "Vinne was much, much more. He was a friend." As heavy as our hearts are, we can not even imagine yours.

And Mary, I hope you didn't vaccum up the $1,000,000.00 bill! With much, much love and support....Special K (the Total Package), Patty, Justin, "The J-man" and Hannah-Bannana
