Willard Moyer Obituary

Willard (Bill) Detweiler Moyer, Jr, of Lower Milford, died peacefully at home on December 25, 2021, with his family by his side. He was born in 1940 in Philadelphia to Willard Detweiler Moyer, Sr, and Augusta Moyer (McAlevy). He was one of seven children, preceded in death by his brother John, and sisters Martha Glackin, Beverly Bartholomew and Barbara Moyer. Bill was an Air Force veteran and graduate of Pennsylvania State University, where he met his wife Susan, with whom he shared 57 years of marriage. He was employed by Air Products & Chemicals, Inc for over 30 years, and spent much of that time working internationally. Bill and Sue lived in Lancaster, Ohio, and Johannesburg, South Africa, before finally residing locally. Although he loved to see the world, he always felt most at home when his feet were planted on Pennsylvania soil. After retiring from Air Products, Bill was a partner in RMW Solutions. He was interested in history, and proud to be a descendant of General William McAlevy, who served in the Revolutionary War. Bill was stoic, honest, and devoted to his family. Although he spent much of his time dedicated to his work, he enjoyed relaxing outdoors and looking after the family menagerie of animals. Life is full of hardships, but Bill proved to everyone that laughter is truly the best medicine - and there's nothing that can't be improved with a slice of chocolate cake and a scalding cup of coffee. He had a dry, quick sense of humor that applied to any situation, and was happy to share it with his family and friends. Bill is survived by: his wife, Susan, his daughter, Jennifer, granddaughter, Natalie, great-granddaughter, Lilith, sisters Margaret, wife of Charles Weisel of Coopersburg, and Nancy, wife of Donald Bowman of Mifflinburg, brother-in-law John Buttery of Allentown, many nieces and nephews, and cats Sassy and Sweetiepie. He was an incredibly moral, kind person, and the type you don't soon forget. Services at the convenience of the family. In lieu of flowers, please send donations to Shriner's Hospitals for Children. Arrangements are by Naugle Funeral and Cremation Service of Quakertown (215-536-3343). To make online condolences please visit www.nauglefcs.com.

Nothing but fond memories of Mr Moyer. My first job, at 13 years old was helping him clean out and fix up a stall in his barn for his donkey, Flash! Think it was $3/hr and all the Yoo-hoo´s I could drink. His obit paints an accurate picture as I remember him, especially his laugh. My sincere condolences to the Moyer family. Jon Haase.

Bill was a wonderful and exceptionally intelligent person. I had the opportunity of working for Bill and Ben for a short time as their part-time bookkeeper. Bill was a bit intimidating when he interviewed me but soon revealed his true nature by expressing his humor and making me feel truly welcome. Although he was a very private person, his love for his family was very apparent in the little comments he made.
I am so very sorry for your loss and pray that memories of Bill provide you comfort.
May God bless you with peace of heart.

I had the opportunity to work with Bill on a project in Poland may years ago. He was always a gentleman with a great sense of humor. His knowledge of the business was immense. A true leader in our industry and most notably one of the few world experts on helium! May Bill Rest in Peace.

A grateful American.
