William Stegemerten Obituary

"William F. (Bill) Stegemerten, III of N. Catasauqua, PA passed away peacefully Tuesday, June 6,2023 with his loving wife of 54 years, Rose M. (McCormick), who was blessed to be by his side in his final moments. Bill was the loving son of William F. Stegemerten, Jr., and K. Pearl (Fisher) of Springfield, PA (Delaware County). He graduated from Springfield High School in 1961 and attended Temple University. He honorably served his country in the U.S. Army and fought in the Vietnam War. Bill began his 30 year career as an estimator, and ultimately retired as President of Allentown Roofing and Sheet Metal Co. After, he drove the shuttle for the staff at Lehigh Valley Health Network for 8 years. He was friendly and thrived when talking to strangers and acquaintances, but being with his family and lifelong friends gave him the most joy. He was a caring father who provided security, comfort, values, and work ethic to his 3 children. He loved his 9 grandchildren dearly and attended their activities and sports, made handmade toys, played games and told many stories of his life experiences. He enjoyed watching the Phillies and Eagles, and specially enjoyed the 6 Corvettes he owned through the years. Bill is survived by wife Rose Stegemerten (McMormick), children William Stegemerten, IV, (Renee), Chris Stegemerten (Tracey), Nicole Seagreaves (David Vincentsen). 9 grandchildren: Dominic, Gabrielle, Liam, Grace, Elizabeth, Nate, Isabella, Lila and Sofia; Siblings: Thomas Stegemerten (late Pat), Donna Waltz (Tom), Faith Hamilton (David). Services: Saturday, June 17th at O'Donnell Funeral Home, 1064 5th Street, N. Catasauqua, PA. Bill is unforgettable! He once made major renovations to a house we were renting in order to accommodate our large and growing family. To say we were grateful is an understatement!
We knocked heads in many a conversation, but grudges were not held. I remember that a smile and a handshake always greeted me when we visited each other.
Pete and Tillie McCormick were always grateful to Bill for the kindness and generosity of time that he shared with them. In their retirement, Bill was mindful of needs that would arise in maintaining their home. When that time came, he was there to help, along with others in the family crew. And a good time was had by all!
He was an honest business owner with a strong Christian work ethic, who always provided well for his family.
Bill is now at rest-a well earned reward! God be with you Bill.

Dear Aunt Rosie and family,

Uncle Bill was a unique character for sure. I will remember many things about him, but one thing that stands out was his laugh. There was no doubt who was laughing if you heard laughing coming from the next room at a family party. And he laughed a lot in my younger days.

He had a way of engaging you in conversation. He was stubborn and opinionated but it was part of what made me love and appreciate him.

He gave me lots of advice as we started our business many years ago. And he always asked how things were going and listened intently when he would see me.

I have many fond memories of parties in "Catty" and going to the local pool. And listening to Uncle Bill tell stories at the kitchen table or out on the porch.

He was my Godfather. I appreciated him. He was a skilled worker who could do many things with his hands. I remember him being a stable, reliable provider for his family. He was loving. He could curse at you with a smile on his face and you couldn't help but take it as a compliment somehow.

He will be missed greatly! There is no repeating a character like Uncle Bill.
