GEORGE DEMCHAK Obituary

GEORGE WILLIAM DEMCHAK George William Demchak, 86, of Woodsfield, Ohio, passed away at his home on Thursday, February 15, 2024. He was born in Glouster, Ohio, in Athens County, a son of the late Gladys Vessalo Demchak and George P. Demchak. George relocated from Glouster to Woodsfield in 1958 to work at the former Ormet Corporation. George retired from Ormet with 30 years of service. George was an outdoorsman who loved hunting and fishing. He was also a gardener and loved to cook wild game and vegetables he grew. He was musically talented and played trumpet and banjo. During his retirement years he spent a lot of time working out in the yard, cooking in the kitchen and spending time with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He was a member of St. Sylvester Catholic Church. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his infant son Michael and a sister, Marianne Demchak. Surviving are his wife of 64 years, Phyllis Rae Smith Demchak and three children, Denise (Joel) Kachel, Steven (Dixie) Demchak and Anne (Loren) Hartshorn, all of Woodsfield; seven grandchildren, Dugan (Cassie) Demchak, Tiffany (Justin) Hogue, Nicole (Jonathan) Wilson, Joshua (Maggie) Hartshorn, Andrew Hartshorn, Jennifer (Patrick) Baker, Katherine Kachel; 16 great-grandchildren, Ava and Alexa Wilson, Taylen, Hoyt, Bradleigh and Case Hartshorn, Holden Zeakes, Hank and Everly Hogue, Coen and Sawyer Hartshorn, Kade, Lane, Max, Miles and Evie Demchak. According to George's wishes, cremation elected with no visitation or services planned. Arrangements by Bauer-Turner Funeral Home Woodsfield.
