Linda Sue Smith, 71, of Woodsfield. She passed away peacefully at her home on Sunday, March 22, 2026, following a brief illness.
Born on May 20, 1954, in Lodi, OH, to the late James and Donna (Haught) Coplan, Linda was a dedicated employee of the Riesbeck's Deli in Woodsfield and spent over 40 years serving our community at various local establishments.
Renowned among her family as an amazing home cook, Linda was famous for her baked steak and fried chicken. She loved watching the Food Network especially the competition shows and was always quick with a smile or a witty comment. Above all, she was a wonderful mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother who cherished every moment spent with her family.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her son, Jason Smith, in January 2025, and her sister, Pamela Ebert.
She is survived by her daughter, Misty Roach of Woodsfield, OH; her sister and brother-in-law, Vickie and Roger Nething of Melbourne, FL; her brothers, Larry Coplan of Dallas, TX and James A. Coplan of Westerville, OH; her grandchildren, Devon (Teresa) Roach of Ravenna, OH and Hayden Burkhead of Woodsfield, OH; and her great-grandson, Matthias Roach of Ravenna, OH and several nieces and nephews.
Per Linda's wishes, there will be no formal services. Inurnment will take place at the convenience of the family. Arrangements have been entrusted to Watters Funeral Home in Woodsfield, OH.
