ELEANOR LEONARD Obituary

ELEANOR LEONARD Eleanor (Vandy) Leonard, 97, of McCall, Idaho, passed away on October 26, 2024, in Littleton, Colorado. She was born on November 25, 1926, in Princeton NJ to William and Ruth Vandewater. She was preceded in death by her husband, Benjamin Leonard, who passed away in 2008 and her daughter, Ruth O'Neal, who passed away in 2022. She is survived by her son, William Leonard, as well as by three grandchildren and three great grandchildren. Vandy was many things in her life: Wife, Mother, Teacher, Volunteer, and so much more. She was an avid outdoorsman who loved skiing and hiking, and she was a friend and mentor to all. Vandy grew up in Princeton New Jersey, and moved with her husband to Golden, Colorado in 1952, where she raised her family, while enjoying all the Colorado outdoors had to offer. In 2001, Vandy and Ben moved to McCall, Idaho, where they quickly became members of the community. In 2017 she moved to Cape Coral, Florida to live in a retirement community near her daughter. She relocated to Colorado once again in 2024 to be near her remaining family, but sadly passed away soon after making that move. No services are planned at this time, but Vandy's family will return her ashes to McCall in summer of 2025 to be interred in McCall Cemetery with her husband. An informal graveside remembrance will be held at that time. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to Snowdon Wildlife Sanctuary in McCall. Vandy will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved her.
