FRANCES MARIAN GREEN
Frances Marian Green peacefully passed away in her youngest daughter's home July 21, 2024, at the age of 98. She was born February 17, 1926, to Theodore and Sydna (Pfost) Schubert at St. Luke's Hospital in Boise, Idaho. She was a beloved mother, mother-in-law, grandmother, great-grandmother, aunt, and friend to many. She will be greatly missed. She was preceded in death by her cherished husband Bernie Green in 2006. Her parents, her brother and three sisters also preceded her in death: the three sisters within the last 18 months. She is survived by her children Karen Reeves, Tony Hiner, Leslie Genter, Ron Green, and Steve Green along with all their spouses. Her 12 grandchildren, 19 great-grandchildren, and so many nieces and nephews will forever cling to the happy memories she created for them.
Her earliest years were spent primarily with her maternal grandparents as her mother passed away very young. When reunited with her father she gained a wonderful new mother and eventually her four siblings. Her limitless strength was developed during these years and served her through all life's challenges. It is a quality she strove to develop in her children. All 12 years of her public education were at Franklin School in Boise where she was an excellent student. She also attended the Boise Secretarial College. The focus of Marian's adult life was always her husband and her family. Together, she and Bernie created and ran multiple successful businesses while simultaneously caring for, guiding, and loving their children. These ventures eventually took them to Riggins, Idaho where she lived for 32 years before returning to Boise after Bernie's death.
Her hobbies and interests were varied and numerous... she was quite social and spent time with her sisters and friends. She was always up to date on current events but wisely kept her opinions to herself. She loved flowers and created gorgeous gardens. She kept an immaculate home and beautiful yard. She knitted, crocheted, sewed, and quilted she was thoughtful and energetic enough to make a personalized quilt for every child and grandchild. She was the founder of the Riggins quilting club they even dedicated a cookbook to her. Her cooking and baking were legendary from her Thanksgiving stuffing to her apple crisp to her pretzel Jello and scrumptious pies. There was always a seat at her table with plenty of delicious food. She and Bernie created precious memories with the children on their many camping trips and driving vacations. These were her favorite times and she would laugh and laugh telling stories about the kids' shenanigans. In her later years, she loved to watch major league baseball (the NY Yankees was her team) and Boise State football. In addition to her family - the Christian religion was always at the center of Marian's life. She has now joined Bernie in the safety of their Lord as they await the time to be reunited with their family.
She will be buried in McCall, Idaho beside her dear husband Bernie. She requested no funeral. So, please keep Marian and her family in your thoughts. The family will be a bit rudderless for a while without her guidance. If you enjoy flowers like she did send a bouquet to someone you love today. If you'd like to contribute to a worthy cause in her name choose between the
American Cancer Society or the
Alzheimer's Association.
