Elma Wyatt Obituary

Elma Wyatt BURNSVILLE Elma Wyatt, 76, of Marion went home to be with the Lord Thursday, Nov. 10, 2011 at McDowell Hospital. A native of Yancey County, she was a daughter of the late Hiram and Hattie McMahan Peek. She was also preceded in death by a sister, Edith Hensley and a brother, Herman Peek. Elma worked different jobs throughout her life, retiring from Hook and Anchor Family Seafood. Surviving are her husband of 61 years, Howard Wyatt, two daughters, Glenda Wyatt and Hilda Boyd and her husband, Fred, and a son, Charles Wyatt and his wife, Janice, all of Marion; a brother, Master Sergeant U. S. Army retired, George Peek of San Antonio, Texas; grandchildren, Chris Canipe, and Natalie, Jacqueline and Madeline Wyatt all of Marion; several nieces and nephews and some very special friends. A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. today, Sunday, Nov. 13, in the Chapel of Holcombe Brothers Funeral Home. The Revs. Charles Atkins and Bill Mitchell will officiate. Burial was in the Morning Star Baptist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 12:30 to 2 p.m. Sunday prior to the service at the funeral home.
