Joyce Toney Obituary

Joyce Imogene Elliott Toney, a cherished resident of Hendersonville, North Carolina, passed away peacefully at her home on October 19, 2025. Born on April 5, 1928, in Marion, North Carolina, she was 97 years old at the time of her passing.

Imogene was preceded in death by her beloved parents, Jack and Bertha Fisher Elliott; her devoted husband, Lonnie J. Toney; her dear daughter, Susan Plemmons, and her brother, Jim Elliott.

Imogene retired from Kimberly-Clark following a dedicated 16-year career as a machine operator. She was not only known for her hard work but also for her many talents and passions. A gifted artist, Imogene created hundreds of exquisite ceramics and found joy in painting. She also had a deep love for nature, spending countless hours tending to her yard and garden. An avid bowler and animal lover, Imogene's vibrant spirit touched all who knew her.

She is survived by her loving daughter, Kathy Toney, and her husband Rick; her cherished grandchild, Derek C. Walker, and his wife Alison; and her adored great-grandchild, Daisy (Dani) Berry. These family members, along with many friends, will forever hold her memory dear.

A graveside service to honor Imogene's life will be held at 11:00 a.m. Friday, October 24, 2025, at Forest Lawn Memorial Park. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to either Four Seasons Hospice or to the Blue Ridge Humane Society, causes that were close to Imogene's heart.

Joyce Imogene Elliott Toney will be remembered for her kindness, creativity and love for both her family and the world around her. She leaves behind a legacy of beauty and compassion that will be cherished by all who knew her.
