Mary "Louise" Laws Styles
July 18, 1933 - October 19, 2021
Mrs. Mary "Louise" Laws Styles reunited with her husband, the Rev. Theodore Styles, in Heaven and they are now together with their Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. Louise passed away at the age of 88, Tuesday, Oct. 19, 2021, at home, with her loving family by her side.
A native of Yancey County, Louise was born July 18, 1933, to the late Johnny Wesley Laws and Minnie Branton Laws. Louise was a loving and caring person who looked after the needs of her family. Being a Pastor's wife, Louise was very involved and supportive of the churches that Theodore pastored. Louise enjoyed baking cakes, but most of all decorating them and giving the cakes to her friends and family. She had a green thumb and loved having flowers inside and outside the house.
In addition to her parents and husband of 70 years, Louise was preceded in death by a beloved daughter, Nancy Elizabeth Styles; four brothers; and three sisters.
Left to cherish Louise's memory are her four children, Linda Houpe (Harry) of Nebo, Becky Davis (Glenn) of Marion, J.T. Styles (Tina) of Morganton, and Teddy Styles (Vicky) of Nebo; special granddaughter, Sherry Moore (Russell), daughter of Nancy; 15 grandchildren, 31 great-grandchildren; one great-great-granddaughter; and numerous nieces and nephews.
A funeral service will be held Thursday, Oct. 21, at 3 p.m., at Westmoreland Funeral Home in Marion, with Pastor J.B. Cope officiating. At her request, Louise's grandsons and great-grandsons will be the pallbearers. The visitation will be at the funeral home from 2 to 3 p.m., prior to the service. A private committal service in Solid Rock Freewill Baptist Church Cemetery will follow the funeral service.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the McDowell Pregnancy Care Center, 40 S. Main St., Marion, NC 28752.
Although she was unable to walk or even stand, she was able to stay in her own home for the past three years. This was possible because of the loving care of her family, most especially granddaughters, Sherry, Wendy, Christy, Kelley, Elizabeth and Kelsey. The family would like to thank special caregivers, Stephanie "Teffie" and Elodia "Loddie."
