Mildred "Mickie" Biggerstaff Hoyle

September 24, 1935 - October 17, 2021

Mildred "Mickie" Biggerstaff Hoyle passed away Sunday, Oct. 17, 2021, at Solace Center in Asheville.

She was born Sept. 24, 1935, to the late Joseph and Lona Elizabeth Biggerstaff. Mrs. Hoyle was the youngest and last surviving child with two brothers, Bill and Jack Biggerstaff, as well as five sisters, Louie Austin, Virgie Poteat, Martha Hester, Margie Hoppes, and Elsie Frazier. She was also preceded in death by her husband, William "Bill" Hoyle; and two sons, Andrew and Tommy Hoyle.

Mrs. Hoyle was a lifelong resident of McDowell County where she and her husband raised seven children. Her home was always full of children, her own and their friends, as well as numerous nieces and nephews. In her later years, her grandchildren and great-grandchildren enjoyed time spent at their "Granny's" home. Her family was her joy and she enjoyed cooking and planning celebrations for them.

She was a member of Cross Memorial Baptist Church. She often spoke fondly of memories made in her childhood with the youth of East Marion Methodist as well as the tight-knit community that she so loved.

Left to cherish her memory are her children, Lona Biggerstaff, Cindy Robinson (Eric), Boyd (Mellisa), Leigh Neal (Joe), and David; 10 grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.

A private graveside service will be held at McDowell Memorial Park.

In lieu of flowers, memorials be made to Cross Memorial Baptist Church, 15 Cross Memorial Baptist Church Loop, Marion, NC, 28752; or East Marion United Methodist Church, 210 Baldwin Ave., Marion, NC, 28752.
