Often quoted, but clearly appropriate--"Where do we get such men as this?" Leader, mentor, role model, Ted Freeman exhibited character and commitment to generations of McDowell County residents. May we all take comfort in having known him. Mrs. Freeman, Ben, and extended family--you are in my thoughts and prayers.

Mr. Freeman was my high school head football coach. I graduated in 1961 at Marion High School. Coach Freeman was highly respected by all of the players and student body alike. I last saw Coach at our 50 year reunion in June. He will be greatly missed. I am sorry for your loss.

Dear Betty,
I was so sorry to hear about the death of Mr. Freeman. The two of you were such a joy to work around and with while I was at St. John's Church. He will truly be missed by everyone that knew him.
Again, I am sending heartfelt love and prayers to you and your family.

Heartfelt condolences to Mrs. Freeman and the family.
I was a member of the first senior class to graduate from the new McDowell HS campus (1973) and attended Marion HS before that, so Mr. Freeman figured strongly in my school years. I respected (and sometimes feared) him as a strong leader in our school. He was always a fair and approachable administrator who clearly loved the students and wanted the best for them.
Mr. Freeman stands out as one of the excellent past leaders in McDowell County. The family should be justifiably proud of that. A life well-lived.
