EVELYN HARMS

EVELYN HARMS Evelyn Susie Friesen Harms was born on Monday, November 14, 1932 and died May 6, 2025 at the age of 92. She was born to Abraham D. and Susie Penner Friesen in Marion County, Kansas, the youngest of six children. She attended Hillsboro High School and Tabor College for one year. Evelyn was a member of Eden Mennonite Church where she remained a faithful member, especially enjoying Dorcas society. On June 9, 1953 Evelyn married Irvin Harms in the First Mennonite Church, Hillsboro by Rev. Arnold Nickel. She also was blessed through marriage with two children Thomas Dean and Barbara Jean. Later two more children joined the family David Alan and Carolyn Jane. She enjoyed the farm and later worked at various jobs in town including the Moundridge Cafe, H & H Meats of Hesston, Memorial Home of Moundridge and the etCetera shop in Newton. Surviving Evelyn's passing are her children, Thomas (Tom) and wife Darlene of McPherson, KS, Barbara and husband John D. Darney of N. Jackson, Ohio, David and wife Cathy of Corry, PA and Carolyn and husband Kyle Janzen of Hesston, KS; 10 grandchildren, Craig Harms, Christine Schrag, Timothy Darney, John Darney, Jessica McAllister, Julia Darney, Matthew Harms, Joshua Harms, Lindsey Koehn, and Michael Janzen; and 16 great-grandchildren. Preceding her in death was her husband, Irvin Harms; parents Abraham and Susie Friesen; siblings Linda Bartel, Theodore Friesen, Carl Friesen, Alvin Friesen, Edna Reimer, brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law. Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m., Saturday, May 17, 2025 at Eden Mennonite Church, Moundridge. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. Family will greet friends from 6:30 to 8:00 p.m., Friday, May 16, at the Moundridge Funeral Home.
