LANDIS LARSON Obituary
LANDIS LARSON
Landis "Lee" Larson, 72, of Lindsborg, KS, passed away peacefully on Saturday, September 20, 2025, surrounded by loved ones. He will be lovingly remembered as a carpenter with a servant's heart.
Lee was born in Lindsborg on December 18, 1952, firstborn to Landis "Bud" and Lois (Tremain) Larson and fourth generation on the family farm west of town. He was an alumnus of Lindsborg High School Class of 1970 and the Salina Silver Sabres Drum & Bugle Corps. Lee proudly served in the U.S. Navy during the Vietnam War aboard the aircraft carrier U.S.S. Oriskany.
When Lee returned to his hometown, he established Coronado Construction. For nearly five decades, he custom built homes throughout the region. The foundation for his successful small business in a reputation-based industry was solid craftsmanship and a credible character. He was active in the Salina Homebuilders Association, the Kansas Building Industry Association Board of Workers' Compensation, and Salina Vo-Tech as a student-turned-instructor.
Lee's great passion melded his construction expertise with service to neighbors farther away: Missions Team Leader for approximately 28 mission trips constructing houses in Mexico and medical clinics in rural Haiti through several Methodist Church groups. Over the years, Lee served as a church Trustee, participated in various Walk to Emmaus and Chrysalis ministries, and helped as a Youth Group leader. He was a member of Trinity United Methodist Church in Salina.
Lee enjoyed skiing and hiking in the mountains of Colorado and later in life picked up the game of golf. He cheered proudly for the Kansas City Chiefs, Kansas City Royals and Kansas Jayhawks. More than anything, he loved being a grandfather.
Lee is survived by his newlywed wife, Elena Maria Padilla Larson of Salina, KS (her children Michelle, Carla, Jack, Juan and Amy); daughters Megan (Bryan) Wagoner of Salina, KS, Brooke (Shane) Hebert of Prairieville, LA and Elena (Brandon) Wayne of Kansas City, KS; brother Lauren (Karen) Larson of Shawnee, KS; sister Lanis (Darroll) Atwood of Austin, MN; grandchildren Blake Hebert, Annleigh Wagoner, Bentley Henness, Harper Wayne and Taysom Wayne; nephew and godson Adam Larson; nieces Jenni Atwood and Nicole Wilson.
