Carol Quinn Obituary

Carol Marie Kindler Quinn

Apr. 10, 1941 - Sept. 15, 2025

Carol Quinn never met a deadline she didn't test, renegotiate, and eventually charm into extension. In keeping with this tradition, her family is submitting her obituary a full eight weeks after her funeral mass.

Carol Marie Quinn (nee Kindler), aged 84, formerly of Lakewood, OH, passed away peacefully on September 15, 2025. Her funeral mass was celebrated at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Marietta, GA followed by interment at St. Teresa Avila Catholic Church in Augusta.

As a teenager, Carol joined Junior Achievement where she met Peter Joseph Quinn. What began as an instant friendship became a lifelong love story with 52 years of marriage, laughter, missing socks, cross-country adventures, and a shared belief you could always make room for one more chair at the table. Pete went ahead of her in 2019 "to get the place ready." Carol, arriving at last, is likely dancing with Pete to their favorite Glenn Miller Band album.

She is survived by her brother, James Kindler of Wheaton, IL. and by her "five wonderful children, in five different states;" Colleen A. Sawyer of Virginia, Alexander J. Quinn of Florida, Margaret M. Schirm of Georgia, Elizabeth A. Peterson of New York, and Kathleen L. Phillips of California. Additionally, she is survived by twelve grandchildren and numerous beloved nieces and nephews.

A graduate of John Carroll University, Carol was a devoted Roman Catholic, an avid reader, and a cherished keeper of family stories. Known for her quick wit, warm humor, and precise grammar corrections, she expressed her love most often through homemade flour tortillas, encouraging words, and an unwavering commitment to her family's well-being.

Carol had hoped to be physically present for the 100th Annual Metzger Family Reunion in 2027. Instead, she is attending from a higher place of honor - raising a beer, singing the "Schnitzelbank," and catching up with the patriarchs who got to Heaven first.

Services were held with the humor, faith, and love that Carol herself modeled. In her honor, her family invites you to do what she did best: tell a good story, say grace, show up for one another, and never underestimate the healing power of a well-timed eye-roll. Life is short, family is everything, and if you're lucky, your mother leaves you enough material to keep you laughing for the rest of the trip.
