Diane Sue Hagood was born July 25, 1950, in Columbus, Ohio, to William and Martha Evans. Diane grew up in Columbus, graduated from St. Francis de Sales High School, The Ohio State University, and Central Michigan University with a Masters of Art in Humanities. Her first teaching position was at Cedarville High School in Cedarville, Ohio, where she taught English and sponsored the National Honor Society and varsity and junior varsity cheerleading. In the fall of 1974 she returned to Columbus to teach at Rosemont School for Girls with the Sisters of the Good Shepard. She joined the faculty of Alan C. Pope in 1988, in Marietta, Georgia, from which she retired in 2012. Diane married her college sweetheart, Lyndell Lewis Hagood of Benton Harbor, Michigan. They had two sons, Benjamin and Nicholas, who were their pride and joy. She was devoted to her family, finding happiness in the simple pleasures of family life. Diane enjoyed her teaching career and the life-long friendship of colleagues and students that followed. Traveling was a special highlight, both road trips across the United States and abroad. Watching Ohio State football every fall was a favorite pastime, even in SEC country. Gardening was a love that was passed on to her from her maternal grandmother, Helen Leffue (deceased). Her favorite pastime was watching her sons and her grandchildren grow up and become kind and good people. Diane lost her battle to cancer on 10-17-2025. She is predeceased by her father, William Evans; her mother, Martha Evans Barney; her step-father, William Barney; her son, Nicholas Andrew Hagood; and her brother John Evans.
