Kathleen (Sweetie) Anne Evers, 74, of Roswell passed away on Monday, June 6, 2022, at Kennestone Hospital in Marietta.
Born March 3, 1948, in Eden, NY to James and Helen (Bartus) Barrett, she married the love of her life, Kenneth Evers, on July 20, 1968.
Kathleen is preceded in death by her parents, Helen and James; her brother, Don Barrett; her sister, Linda Knowles; and her grandson Barrett Summy.
She is survived by her husband, Kenneth (Pops) Evers of Roswell; children, Jennifer (Keith) Slocumb of Roswell, Christopher (Kelly) Evers of Roswell and Chloe (Mark) Summy of Roswell; 6 grandchildren Abby (Justin) Myles, Madeleine Slocumb, Delaney Slocumb, Ansley Evers, Gabriel Evers and Robert Summy and one great grandson, Nolan Myles. She also leaves behind her beloved dog, Minnie Pearl.
Sweetie met her husband in college at Niagara University and settled into life as the wife of an Air Force pilot, living in Texas, Arkansas, Okinawa, Japan, Hawaii, Maryland and finally retiring in Georgia. She loved to travel with Ireland, Germany, Hawaii, Charleston, Destin and Disney World being some of her favorite places. She never met a stranger and made dear friends all over the world that she met along the way. She loved animals and was a fierce supporter of animal rescue and adoption. She was a talented artist who loved to draw and crochet.
Sweetie loved her family and friends fiercely. She was the Matriarch of the Evers Nation and her most important accomplishment was building and nurturing a close-knit family that she knew would carry on her memory and legacy.
Her Funeral Mass will be held at 11 am on Friday, June 17, 2022, at the Catholic Church of St. Ann in Marietta. GA. The church will livestream the service via Zoom. We ask that you wear pink or something with pink in honor of Sweetie. It was her favorite color. There will be a reception in the parish center immediately following and all are welcome to attend. Internment of her cremains will be at a later date.
