Michael Kenneth McGarity

Michael Kenneth McGarity, age 77, of Powder Springs, Georgia passed away Monday, September 12, 2022. Funeral Services will be held at 11:00 am on Friday, September 16, 2022 at West Cobb Funeral Home and Crematory in Marietta with Pastors Bill Henneberg and Richard Hemphill officiating. Interment will follow at a later date at the Georgia National Cemetery in Canton, Georgia. Born in Knoxville, TN, Mr. McGarity lived most of his life in Cobb County. After graduating from Sprayberry High School in 1962, he served in the United States Army during the Vietnam War. He became a Plumber, and worked for the Local 72 for many years before starting his own plumbing business. He was a member of Word of Life Church in Powder Springs, and enjoyed going on mission trips and spreading the good news of the Gospel. He was preceded in death by his parents, G.T. and Evelyn McGarity, and a brother, Charles McGarity. Survivors include:Wife of 37 years, Floy B. McGarity; Son, Michael K. (Nicole) McGarity, Jr., Woodstock, GA; 2 Grandchildren (the apple of his eye), Meghan and Nathan McGarity; 6 Siblings, George (Sharon) McGarity, Jack (Linda) McGarity, Elaine Black, Rusty (Marsha) McGarity, Wiley McGarity, and Belva McGarity (Stan) Daniel; Aunt, Maudie Lowe; Uncle, Leon Fortner; and several Nieces and Nephews.
