Patricia Haynes Obituary

Patricia Elizabeth Thomas Haynes passed peacefully away on the 16th of May, 2022 at 6:41 am.

Her daughters, Robyn and C, were by her side holding her hands, singing to her and praying over her as she took her last breath.

Tricia was born on the 11th of July, 1945 in Little Rock, Arkansas. She was the daughter of James Hornibrook and Ouida Driver Thomas and the oldest sister to Sharon Willis and Ouida Bartley.

Tricia was raised in New Orleans, Louisiana before moving to Houston, Texas with her family in the ninth grade. She was a member of the first graduating class of Memorial High School and went on to graduate with degrees in Journalism and English from The University of Arkansas, Fayetteville. There she met and married Robert E. Haynes (Gene), and they eventually settled in Houston, Texas.

Tricia and Gene Haynes, raised two beloved daughters, Robyn Haynes Kirschner and C Tricia Haynes Foltz.

Robyn is married to Christian Kirschner, they share three children: Saylor, Sunny and Beau.

C is married to Kevin Foltz, they share two children: Graham and Reed.

Tricia had a deep passion for tennis. She was the captain of three different local leagues and played at both the neighborhood club in Nottingham Forest and Westside Tennis Club.

Tricia had a wonderful sense of humor. She will be remembered for her quick wit, hilarious dry humor and perfectly timed wise cracks.

Tricia was a quintessential champion for dogs and children. She adopted many dogs over the years; some were found on the side of the road or in a flower bed by a hospital. She always knew she could offer them a better life. For years, she volunteered at a foster home, baking each child a birthday cake on their birthday. She donated extensively over the years to organizations helping animals and children, including the Houston Zoo and San Diego Zoo.

Tricia became a master gardener and always had the most beautiful yard in the neighborhood. She volunteered at her daughters' high school planting trees and flowers to make the community more beautiful.

Music was a big part of her life; she would sing "oldies but goldies" out loud and dance in the family room. She loved to play trivia and ask her grandchildren if they knew a certain song or artist. She was a longtime season ticket holder to the Houston Symphony.

Tricia adored her grandchildren Saylor, Sunny, Graham, Beau and Reed; she often told her friends that they were her true joy in life. They shared many wonderful times together laughing, playing games, swimming in her pool and eating her favorite mexican food.

Tricia enjoyed her last years in Houston before her illness, eventually moving to Denver, Colorado to be close to her family.

Tricia is survived by her two daughters, Robyn and family, C and family, her two sisters, Sharon married to Scott Willis and Ouida married to Sam Bartley.

Additionally, she is survived by Jim and Lauren Willis and family, Scott and Julie Willis and family, Brandon Bartley and Elise and John Grinstead and family.

Tricia will always be close to our hearts and in our daily thoughts. She was a wonderful mom, sister, grandmother, aunt and friend. We will miss her deeply, but knowing that she is at peace and in the arms of our loving God brings us comfort.

Tricia will be laid to rest in Houston with her parents in a private family service.

Tricia's family would like to thank Elevation Hospice, Right at Home and Balfour Central Park for the care she received.
