BRIAN DAVIS Obituary

(Mean Green Fishing Machine)

Brian peacefully passed with his family by his side on Sunday, October 10, 2010 after a courageous battle with Lung Cancer. He was born in San Francisco, CA and spent his childhood in Los Altos, CA.

In 1964, Brian joined the Army. He honorably served our county in Vietnam from 1965 to 1966. He was 1st Cavalry Division, 82nd Airborne and earned many decorations including but not limited to, two Bronze Stars and Expert Rifleman.

After moving to Merced in the mid 70s he met Karen, his loving and devoted wife of 34 years. During the early years of their marriage, the family enjoyed boating, waterskiing and camping.

Continuing to enjoy his life and anticipating retirement, Brian purchased his prized possession, his fishing boat. He and many friends and family have enjoyed numerous fishing trips, camping trips, and a lot of laughs on his boat. His most recent and most memorable trip was this summer when he taught his grandson Connor how to fish.

Family and friends will miss his spirited personality, positive attitude and love of life which he lived to the fullest.

Brian is survived by his wife Karen, his son Danny DeGraff and wife Kim, his daughter Jill Heiser and husband Bill, his cherished grandchildren, Connor, Hailey and Danny DeGraff and his beloved dogs Harvey and Suzie.

Burial will be Tuesday, October 19 at San Joaquin Valley National Cemetery 32053 West McCabe Road Santa Nella, CA 95322

A celebration of Life will be held Saturday, October 16 at 2:00 pm at the Star Club where he had numerous cherished friends who loved and cared for him during his illness. They will always be remembered by his family for their kindness and love to Brian which meant so much to him.

Brian and I shared many happy mewmories of our deer hunting trips to Wyoming as well as our pig hunting at the cabin I had access to years ago. I will always remember our get-togethers at the Elk's Lodge and the Star Club. Rest peacefully my friend.

Brian was such a great person in the 9 years I worked with him. His big smile will always be in my memory. My condolences to his family, I know this is a very difficult time and you are in my thoughts and prayers. Rest in piece Brian, I am sure you are doing some great fishing up there.

Karen: Brian was such a good and loyal friend of our family; he served as a paulbearer for my uncle, my mom, and my dad. It is ironic that he passed on the anniversary of Uncle Ben's passing in 1993. He too spent many happy moments at the Star Club as well as did I. Brian will be missed, particularly by my brother, Eddie. Peace to you and your family.
