Darlene J. Roberts, 83, of Greer, widow of Charles T. Roberts, died Monday, November 3, 2014. Born in Ontario, CA, she was a daughter of the late Carlos and Thelma Long Fast.
Surviving are daughters, Carla Roberts and Cathy (Glenn) Edmisten; sons, Tom and Douglas (Katrina) Roberts; 9 grandchildren, Camile Steinmetz, Renee and Nadine Periat, Travis and Justin Wiles, Anna, Carl, Alan and Samuel Roberts; and 1 great grandchild, Lola Steinmetz and her sister-in-law Barbara Bacon and brother-in-law Richard McDermott. She was predeceased by sisters, Sharon McDermott and Doris Martin.
Darlene worked for Bank of America as a bank teller in Pescadero. There she helped many folks who would leave their checkbook with her so she could balance them. Her love for the outdoors and family were a big part of her life. There were many camping trips with family and friends instilling a love for outdoors to all.
After her husband passed away, Darlene moved to South Carolina so that she could be closer to her youngest grandchildren. There she became a volunteer at the local hospital so the she could hold and rock premature babies.
Services were held in South Carolina; and there will be a graveside ceremony on November 14th at 11:00 a.m., San Joaquin Valley National Cemetery, Gustine, Ca. Services are under the direction of Whitehurst Funeral Chapels~Los Banos.
