Some snapshots of my cousin Gregory Allen that we all grew up with.
His parents were Kenneth, (Kenny) and Peggy Acree Carter.
Greg´s eldest sister Joni went before him, but he is survived from his two remaining siblings, sister Susan Carter Armstrong, (Jim), and brother Kevin, (Margaret).
Our Carter family will all miss Greg. We will hold on tightly to our memories growing up in this big family with aunts, uncles, grandparents, the holidays and any reason to gather.
Greg was afflicted with GuillenBarre syndrome in the height of his athletic career in high school. He was wheel chair bound at age 17 until the disease ran its course. His family steadfastly supported his recovery which took one year. It set him back but he came back stronger than ever from his athletic background where he achieved his HS awards for baseball. Greg was an all around athlete. He excelled in football for many years before honing it to baseball. Greg had wicked strength and aim
In his left pitching arm. It was rare when a batter could hit off of Greg´s fast pitch or curve ball which his dad taught him.
His life is. Real come back story where he was afflicted by a debilitating disease young, endured it and came back stronger. That is what life long Mercedians and family will remember most about Greg. Tenacity and up for any struggle.
Peace my dear cousin. I´m sure your parents and sister were there to greet you with open arms and abundance of unconditional love as always.
