JOHN BOHN Obituary

1928 ~ 2010

John Stanley Bohn, longtime resident of Merced, passed away on December 31st, at the age of 82. One of three children born to Frank G. Bohn and Charlotte M. Shipley, he was born in Bishop, CA on November 2, 1928. Stan was a graduate of Merced High School, Class of '46. He married Barbara Joan Ivers in August 1955 and established his home. Stan was the father of seven children.

Stan proudly served his country in the US Army and the US Army Reserves for more than twenty two years. He worked for many years in his families Bohn and Shipley's Firestone. In 1971, Stan went to work as an Auditor for the Merced County Auditor-Controller's office before retiring in 1989.

Stan was a member of the American Legion and past member of the Kiwanis Club, Masonic Lodge and the Elks Lodge As his children started their own families, Stan enjoyed his grandchildren.

Stan was preceded in death by his parents, brothers Frank and Don, and his wife, Joan.

Stan is survived by his children, John (Beverlee) Bohn, Julie (Mike) Brittain, Barbara (Arnie) Levey, Jane (Allan) Knutsen, Robert (Brandi) Bohn, Richard (Danielle) Bohn and Joseph Bohn. Stan also leaves ten grandchildren - Kaylee Bohn, Jennifer Scroggins, Jeffrey Scroggins, Cptn. Melvin Levey, Sarah Levey, Kate Knutsen, Dustin, Brady and Ian Bohn, and Erica Campbell.

Graveside services will be held at Evergreen Memorial Cemetery in Merced at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, January 7th In lieu of flowers, remembrances may be made to Merced County Historical Society, at 21st & N. Street Merced, CA 95344.

Dear Barbara:

I want you to know that I was sorry to hear of your Dad's passing. I remember when I worked with him that he was very nice and was always cheerful. My thoughts and prayers are with you and your family. I hope that your Son is doing well and sending you best wishes for a calm & safe New Year.
