Joseph Anthony Pinheiro

1925 - 2007

Joseph Anthony Pinheiro died April 26, 2007 at Dominican Hospital after a long illness.
Joe was born in El Nido, San Joaquin Valley, CA. on May 26, 1925. He grew up in the area with his family who were dairy farmers, and attended Merced High School. Whereupon he joined the Navy and spent World War II in the Pacific. After the war, he attended San Jose State majoring in Business Administration. He joined Sigma Nu and later became President of the fraternity. There he met his future wife Jeanne Lockwood of Santa Cruz. Upon graduation he was selected to become a special office trainee for American President Lines.
As part of this training were several cruises around the world acting as purser on APL ships. He also acted as interpreter on the line for many foreign travelers. Upon completing his training program, he returned to headquarters in San Francisco.
At this time he married Jeanne Lockwood, and a month later was transferred as Assistant Manager to APL's Honolulu office. Five years later he and his wife returned to California as they missed their family and friends and Joe took a new position with Lockheed. Joe took an early retirement due to health reasons and has been a resident in Santa Cruz for the past 11 years.
He is survived by his loving family, former wife Jeanne Epping, Two sons Greg and his wife Mary Lou Pinheiro and Scott Pinheiro. Grandsons Brody, Turner and Sam Pinheiro. Niece, Barbara Huff, Finley, Kimbely, Jennifer and Eric.brother and sister-in- law Bob and Jan Lockwood. He is preceded in death by his grandson Tavis Pinheiro and sister Mary Brindeiro.
Family and friends are invited to gather Friday May 4, 2007 at 10:00 AM at the Resurrection Church 7600 Soquel Dr. Aptos, Ca 95003.
